Dr. Carol Birchmore

Carol joined MSEC as an Enterprise Fellow in 2004 before taking up the post of Enterprise Academic in 2006. Carol has thirteen years experience working in the analytical instrumentation industry in both design, installation and sales roles. Prior to joining MSEC Carol was a Senior Experimental Officer in the Forensic Science and Volatile Organic Chemistry Laboratory in the Department of Instrumentation and Analytical Science (DIAS) at UMIST. For her PhD she developed an innovative new analytical technique by combining a switching high-resolution ion mobility spectrometer using a unique pulsed corona discharge source and a mass spectrometer. Carol now teaches on MSEC's undergraduate enterprise programmes at the universities of Manchester and Salford.
